Daria Hlazatova

The amazing and mesmerizing work of Daria Hlazatova will be in Omaha for two days only. Daria will be available on August 19th from 5 pm to 9 pm and her work will display until Saturday the 20th. Daria Hlazatova is an artist who comes from a hilly city near the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine. Her work has been described as “Gustav Klimt meets Peter Max” and is inspired by fairy tales, theater, traveling, and animals. Combined with, she says, “a wee bit of nonsense.” She is also influenced by music. Whether designing album cover art for Subpop recording artist, Lyla Foy—among many others—or creating a limited edition poster for Sony Music’s Paloma Faith, Daria’s love of music shines through in her lyrical drawings. Her illustrations have appeared in various books and publications. As a member of PRISMA Artist Collective Daria’s work has been exhibited throughout Europe from Kiev to London and in the U.S. from San Francisco to Philadelphia. In 2016 her work was shortlisted for the Bridgeman Studio Award to designing a book cover for a best-selling author. Hlazatova’s work included in this special Gallery 72 show will be new drawings and collages. The artist will be present to discuss her work during a reception Friday evening, August 19th, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. In addition to Friday her work will be on exhibit Saturday, August 20th, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
